Law regulations
The major tools which the EU use to met targets are directives. At present there are three directives related with the RES and it is:
- Directive 2001/77/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 September 2001 on the promotion of electricity produced from renewable energy sources in the internal electricity market
- Directive 2003/30/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 8 May 2003 on the promotion of the use of bio fuels or other renewable fuels for transport
- Directive 2009/28/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 April 2009 on the promotion of the use of energy from renewable sources and amending and subsequently repealing Directives 2001/77/EC and 2003/30/EC4
Although the EU introduced this three tool there are also several countries where they are not established in full size. The reason is internal policy and law regulation in each Member States. In some of cases the directive implementation take even a few years. It is considerable barrier for the RES and provide to slowdown development. Laid down description of law regulations in each of the EU Member States are prepared for technologies which in general generate only electricity or the CHP and their influence on the electrical network. Therefore in descriptions is no geothermal technologies.
