Feed-in tariff is the major instrument supporting the RES technologies in Greece. There are also special tariffs for the PV systems. [54] In general all of the RES systems (wind, solar, bio and hydro) are eligible for the support however capacity of hydro power plants have to not exceed 15 MW. The amount depends from technology. Wind power plants which capacity is up to 50 kW receives 250 €/MWh and farms which capacity exceed that value, from 87,5 to 94,5 €/MWh plus additional 20% if the systems does not obtain the EU grants. The PV systems with capacity up to 100 kW receives 419,43 €/MWh and the rest of them 372,83 €/MWh. Other solar systems than the PV may receive 284 €/MWh. Biogas systems receives from 99,45 to 220 €/MWh and biomass power plants from 150 to 200 €/MWh. Both type of the bio systems may also receive additional 15% more if they do not receive the EU grants. Tariff for hydro power plants are from 87,85 to 220 €/MWh plus additional 20% if plant is not supported by the EU grants. That tariffs are eligible for 20 years for all technologies excluding other than the PV solar systems which are supported for 25 years. Decresion is adjusted by the Minister of Development. [54] Greece have introduced special tariffs for the roof-top systems on mainland which capacity does not exceed 10 kW and for roof-top, grid-off systems in the rest of Greece which capacity is up to 5 kW. The amount is 0,55 €/kWh for 25 years and is decreased for 5% per year. [54] In Greece the RES systems does not have priority however the grid operator is obligated to conclude contract about grid connection without discrimination and to upgrade and expanse electrical network if it is necessary.
