Malta

In Malta there are two means of support for the RES technologies: price regulation and subsidies. [54]

Price regulation (in term of feed-in tariff) are available only for solar technologies. System operators of solar installations receives 6,99 €ct/kWh. There are no additional restriction. [54]

The first grant system supports only wind parks which are located in Malta. The grant amount equals 25% of the purchase price however not more than 100 Lira (about 233 €). [54]

The second grant system supports solar technologies. The grant amount equals 50% of the purchase price however not more than 3000 €. [54]

System operators in Malta are allow to conclude a grid connection contract with the grid operator (Enemalta Corporation). Moreover grid operator is obligated to expand the electrical network if it is necessary. [54]

Regulation requirements in Malta are Subsidiary Legislation 423.19. Promotion of Electricity produced from Renewable Energy Sources Regulations (PRESR), A Once-Only Grant on the Purchase of Wind Energy Systems (GN 136), A Grant on the Purchase of Systems for Domestic Use that Reduce the Use of Energy, or Use Renewable Sources of Energy (GN 81) and Electricity Regulations (ER).
