ENERGY CONSERVATION AND DEMAND SIDE MANAGEMENT

Humanity has always dreamt about creating perpetuum mobile which is in fact nothing more than a machine whose efficiency equals 100% or more. Such a machine would violate the law of conservation of energy and thus it is impossible to build one. However the eternal idea of improving things and make them more efficient has spread over almost every aspect of human life and stimulated to develop. Very important issues in the broadly defined field of efficiency are energy conservation and demand side management.

Energy conservation and demand side management are two different groups of efforts aimed at economical savings and power safety improvements in energetics. However they achieve their goals by different methods. Namely energy conservation refers to the group of measures which goal is to reduce the energy consumption while the demand side management encourages the end users to shift their energy consumption from peak hours to the off peak ones.
