Nuclear Wastes

Nuclear wastes are the problem that is not solved particularly anywhere in the World. There is no operating final disposal facility in European Union as well. But even legislation is this are does not exist. The EU has not established any guidelines or rules how to handle with nuclear wastes. [149]. There is only a proposal of Directive [161], but it is not known when it will be passed.

Although legislation of final disposal does not exist, the rules of radioactive materials shipment has been established. The Council Regulation (Euroatom) No. 1493 / 93 [162] concerns shipments inside the EU, and The Council Directive 2006 / 117 / Euroatom [163] concerns all possible shipment also outside the EU and introduce supervision and control of nuclear material transports.
