ENVIRONMENT

Environmental aspect of nuclear power systems is ambiguous issue. On the one hand, reactors do not produce carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxides and sulphur oxides. Although toxic substances and greenhouse gases are emitted during reactor's and power plant's elements manufacture, but theirs amounts are slightly small and can be omitted. Dangerous compounds are common during electricity generation in fossil fuel power plants. On the other hand, fission reaction produces very harmful radioactive wastes. Danger, brought by these wastes, is many times greater than fossil power plants wastes.

Environmental influence of the nuclear reactor is ecologist's issue. This chapter describes only the main problem of nuclear systems - radiation and its influence on human body. [19]
