Problems concerning all sector performance

Fuel cycle

In case of fossil fuel power plants fuel cycle is not widely described problem. It is because fossil fuel cycle is quite easy. Nothing more than its extraction in the coal mine, transport and combustion in the power plant boiler. After that it is necessary to purify the exhaust fumes from fuel dust, NOx, SOx and CO2. However technologies to achieving it are well developed and being used (except CO2 sequestration, but concept solution are ready).

In the nuclear power plant fuel procurement is more difficult. First of all vast majority of countries with nuclear industry have to import the fuel. Obtaining uranium mining technology is not everything. Highly specialized processing facilities are needed to enrich the uranium and to prepare fuel elements. The end product has to meet with nuclear safety standards. Very important, and still unsolved problem is nuclear waste disposal. There is no usable method, ready for industrial use. [19]
