The specifications of those appliances were stated in the following directive

‘Commission Directive 2003/66/EC (energy labelling of household electric refrigerators, freezers and their combinations)‘

The Directive defines energy efficiency classes for refrigerators, freezers and combined appliances based on the energy efficiency index alpha up to the pattern:

Where: I? - energy efficiency index alpha.

AC – annual energy consumption of appliance

SC? – standard annual energy consumption ? of appliance.

    • The label also contains:

      • annual energy consumption in kW•h per year

      • capacity of fresh foods in litres for refrigerators and combined appliances

    WASHING MACHINES, TUMBLE DRYERS AND COMBINED APPLIANCES

    The specifications of those appliances were stated in the following directives

    ‘Commission Directive 96/60/EC (energy labelling of household combined washer-dryers)’

    ‘Commission Directive 95/13/EC (energy labelling of household electric tumble dryers)’

    ‘Commission Directive 95/12/EC (energy labelling of household washing machines) Amended by Directive 96/89/EC ‘

    The Directive defines energy efficiency classes for washing machines based on the energy used C [kw*h] on washing in a standard cycle a cotton sample at 60C with maximum declared load.
