ENERGY CONSERVATION AND DEMAND SIDE MANAGEMENT

Energy conservation and demand side management are two different groups of various measures aimed for economical savings and power safety improvement in power industry. Both methods can be implemented by many ways such as financial incentives or technical innovations. Each method specifically affects the load curve thus it is appropriate to explain them on the load curves.

    • Load curve (Figure 1) is a profile that illustrates the variation of electrical load in relation to the time. As can be seen from the above the value of load demand differs depending on the daytime. It is higher during the working hours or evening time and lower on nights when people’s activities slow down.
