Professor M. Pawlik graduated in 1962 from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering the Lodz University of Technology (LUT) with specialty in thermal power plants. There he received the Ph.D. (1969) and D.Sc. (1981) degree in electrical power engineering and in 1990 - the title of Professor. His area of interest includes: optimization of the fuel structure (energymix) of domestic electricity generation sector, advanced power units for supercritical parameters and optimization of auxiliary systems in power plants. The scientific achievements of professor M. Pawlik include: three comprehensive monographs, 10 chapters in books, over 240 papers published and more than 110 research works carried out for the energy and industry sectors. In the years 1991-2009 he was the head or contractor of 10 research projects (grants) KBN(Committee for Scientific Research, including two research projects ordered (PBZ). Currently scientific task manager in strategic research program "Advanced energy generation technologies" of NCBiR (National Centre for Research and Development). The academic achievements include 7 Award of the Minister (Science, Higher Education and Technology and Education), the Award of the Lodz Society of Science (in 2000) and the prestigious Prize of the City of Lodz (in 2006). In the years 1982-1987 professor M. Pawlik was deputy dean, and in the years 1987-1990 Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering Lodz University of Technology. In the years 1992-2010 he was the director of the Institute of Electrical Power Engineering, LUT. With the selection of the national scientific community has been a member of the Panel T-10 "Electrical, Power Engineering and Metrology" the fourth term and the Chairman of the Panel T-10 fifth term of the Committee for Scientific Research (KBN). In the first term of the Science Council at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, was a member of the Scientific Policy Committee. Professor M. Pawlik already the sixth term is Vice-President of the Committee for Energy Studies, and Vice-President of the Electrical Systems Section of Electrotechnical Committee the Polish Academy of Sciences. For the work in the preparation, implementation and operation of the biggest polish Power Station Bełchatów has received the 1988 Medal "Builder Power Station", and in 2002 the Honorary Citizenship of the Town Bełchatów. Since 1983 he is an ordinary member of the Lodz Society for Scientific (ŁTN) and since 1996 he has been a member of the Presidium of ŁTN, and from 2003 to this day serves as Vice -president of ŁTN. In 1994, professor M. Pawlik was elected a foreign member of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, and in 2009 Pryazovsky State Technical University in Mariupol (Ukraine) has given him the title of Doctor Honoris Causa. He is awarded, among others, Knight’s and Officer's Cross Order of Polonia Restituta, Polish Gold and Silver Cross of Merit, the Medal of the National Education Commission, Medal of Honour of the City of Łódź, the Gold Medal of "Distinguished for Energetics", the Silver and the Gold Medal of NOT (Federation of Engineering), and the Silver and the Gold Medal of the SEP (Association of Polish Electrical Engineers).
