Dynamic energy storage with high speed rotation fly wheel Vycon Flywheel
The energy storage with high speed Vycon flywheel, which is installed in the Laboratory of Distributed Generation allow for conversion and accumulation of electrical energy in a form of kinetic energy. Otherwise to most of chemical storages, flywheel does not have memory effect, thus cycle number (discharges) does not have impact on the lifetime.
Basic characteristic of the Vycon flywheel:
Power: 350 kW,
velocity of full charge state: 36 0 000 rpm,
efficiency: above 99 %,
In The Laboratory of Distributed generation of the Institute of ELectrical Power Engineering, the dynamic energy storage is connected to the power system through Socomec UPS system. The power of the UPS is 160kVA. The system is designed for supplying in short time power outages (upto 7s). In case of longer outages, energy is taken from chemical batteries (both storages are conected to the same UPS system).
